The History or Story Behind TRIP .. etc ..
The Teacher Release to Industry (TRIP)program is co-ordinated by the Victorian Employers Chamber of Commmerce and Industry. It enables state school teachers to work for in industry for a year. In 2001 approximately 50 teachers are participating in the program.
And now a word from our TRIP co-ordinator
This is for those people who delete their emails, etc.
February 20, 2001
While the email line has been running hot it’s good to see that you’re developing networks and contacts through a vigorous schedule of lunches, coffees and hotel commitments. Some of us however have to keep working, especially as the TRIP office is now without Gill, whom we farewelled last week - with a lunch of course!!! Anyway this is a quick update and information on the program so far.
Qualification Option
Thank you to everyone for forwarding their qualification component option to the preferred provider. We have finalised the list and look forward to a fulfilling year ahead whichever stream you have chosen.
TRIP Induction 2
This is fast approaching and we have just about received all the faxback details. We do need everyone’s reply by COB on Wednesday to allow us to finalise the details and arrange workshop numbers. Thursday’s workshops are filling quickly, and due to the style of presentation there is a limit of 25 participants for each. As there has been strong interest in Workshop 2, Risk Analysis, there are only a limited number of places remaining. The final 10 spots will be filled on a ‘first in’ basis.
Network Day 23 March
Today I was made aware that this date (23 March) clashes with a statewide principals forum. We are now considering a new date to avoid this clash of events that would preclude the 32 secondary principals from participating in the TRIP Network Day. New details will be forwarded as soon as they are finalised. Your principals and host employers will also be notified, however in the course of your day I would appreciate it if you could pass this information to host employers.
Promotions and Marketing Officer
We will be interviewing for this position shortly with a view to making an appointment as soon as possible. Obviously we will wait for this appointment to be filled before settling our TRIP Office Contact lists and making arrangements to visit you on site.
Courtesy Calls.
By the end of last week Gill and I had managed to chat with all TRIPpers about your first weeks in your new roles. While it’s good to hear there is a positive feel, there has also a number of teething problems to be overcome, with lot’s of TRIP initiative being shown already. There certainly seems to be some great work being done even at this early stage.
Have a good week and I”l see everyone at the “G” next week
Regards
Mark
TRIP Coordinator
Monday February 12, 2001
Just a quick line to catch up on the latest news and test the email line to see who is out there at the moment, as I know some are still waiting on
their workplace to hok up their email.
Well done Angela for the article on TRIP, the MCG and your sporting endeavours. I thought the photo was very inspirational- looking up to the '56 torch. We've had a number of enquiries already from teachers and companies asking for more information about the program.
Last week I chatted to many TRIPpers about their workplaces and settling into the new surroundings. So far the response has been very positive as
people comence their new roles. Keep up the good work. I will continue my calls throught this week and talk with even more of you.
I thought you'd like to know the TRIP 2001 photo has been developed and will be copied for all and will be available at our next gathering at the MCG.
This week is Gill's last days in the office as she finishes on Wednesday, so we wish her every sucess for the future.
Regards
Mark
I'd love to hear from you!
